Discovering Talent in Cardiff and Birmingham

Written by Ann Palmer

Britains Got Talent Auditions Round 2

My heart bleeds for the thousands of youngsters who feel they stand a chance in front of a sometimes punishing and unforgivable onslaught from not only the judges, but the audience too, who boo, whistle and shout "OFF, OFF, OFF".

Youngsters and Adults alike are surely nerve wracked when they set foot on the Britain's Got Talent stage, and must be petrified and desolate when they are booed off. But what parents let their children stand onstage and perform, when they are either inadequately prepared, or audition under the misguided belief that they are good. Sometimes even cocky with it.

Shaheen Jafargholi got the shock of his life when Simon Cowell halted his performance as he began to sing. My heart sank! and the look of devastation on his mothers face was agonising.

The fresh faced youngster stood his ground and looked amazed as he was asked to perform another number, but what a brilliant opportunity for the lad to start over. This time to the amazment of everyone, as he sang a Michael Jackson number and captured our hearts spellbindingly.

Shaheen who sings to make his grandad happy, had a standing ovation and the hard man of the music empire said he loved you, 'twice' and commented "one song can change your life, this could be the start of something special young man" Simon Cowell also said "it was a hard song to sing".

I am certain his proud mum will thank you for spotting his talent and for giving him the opportunity of a second chance.

Wales has got talent!

Birmingham

Amanda Holden cried yet again, as 39 year old music teacher Julian Smith blew away the audience and the judges with his saxophone tonight.

The nervous father of 2 small daughters played from the heart, his musical peice echoed soul and emotion and even had the audience on their feet as he finished to rapturous applause and received 3 yes's. The whole idea of the show is to find great talent and here in Birmingham they have found it in Julian.

Comments like "we are all completely blown away" as well as " there is something special about you" all lead us to beleive this young man will be a good contender in this years round of semi finals. Simon Cowell was even heard to say backstage "love that guy"

Entertaining Acts to Set Before The Queen?

Are we yet convinced the panel are looking for outstanding talent alone. It appears from Peirs Morgan and Amanda Holden's judgement that they are looking for entertainment value to keep the show alive, something entertaining and different in Paul Coghlan's Mama Trish and David Derbyshires body dismembering act.

Although I disagree with their choice on one or two performances I have to agree with the choice of the Debbie Derbyshire Dancers who with a bit of polish around their "stripping" could pull off a place in the next rounds. Good Luck Girls!
