The programme features a specially recreated version of Stephen Petronio’s Strange Attractors Part II in addition to new pieces created for EDge by Stacy Matthew Spence, formerly of Trisha Brown Dance Company, and Danish-born US-based choreographer Charlotte Boye-Christensen.
Led by Artistic Director Lauren Potter, the company of 14 dancers will also present a selection of short works created by emerging choreographers commissioned by The Leche Trust. This year’s choreographers for The Leche Commissions are Ben Duke, Rick Nodine, Frauke Requardt and Anna Williams. EDge will be in residence at the Teatro E. Novelli in Italy in May and the Skolen for Moderne Dans in Denmark and the Casa Des Artes in Portugal in June and July, working with local students to create new work, teaching classes and giving workshops. The company will also give performances at these venues.
This year, the dancers of EDge are drawn from around the UK as well as the US, Spain, Italy and Taiwan and are all recent graduates from the world’s finest dance conservatoires. Made up of young dancers on the cusp of their professional careers, the Company represents the very pinnacle of graduate student dance. The graduate dance season at the Riley Theatre also includes performances by:
